I am so impressed with everyone's talent.
There are a few in the class who
said they had never painted.
They did a wonderful job!
Glenna ~ you are terrific!!

I'm going back to one
of my favorites.

Tuesday Morning Art Group :)

Today ~ I got to paint with my wonderful
Tuesday Morning Art Group :)

(BTW ~ please say a prayer for Fr. Ed,
someone stole his debit card.)

This lady came in to our classroom
with her camera taking pictures.
For whatever reason, she was fascinated with
what I was painting.  She took other pictures;
but, the majority had something to do
with me?? ;-/

Moving on...
Here is how today finished up.

I'm realizing now...I need to give the babies
** eye some more attention.
** Certainly, its fingers need more attention.
** Shorten its little back.
** And, God's arm ~ YIKES!!

I do so love painting :)

Happy Painting ~ Everyone :)

Saturday's Pass @ the Oil Painting

Yea ~ I found time today to paint :)

This is the same painting
I worked on yesterday.
It is painted underneath using acrylics...
 (as per my teacher's instructions).

I still have a ways to go;
but, it is enjoyable to work on it.

Allen pointed out the babies arm
is a little too chubby & of course, the fingers
are still a little "hinky" (Allen's word).
And...I agree.

God's arm is extremely challenging for me.
I need to figure out someway to
authentically paint it.

Oh well ~
...Happy Painting...

Phase II of Learning to Paint Using Oil

Last night, I went to art class prepared to
paint using my oils.
I took several canvases.
Two of which, I painted several
different ways & one with
the picture just drawn in.

I didn't take my acrylics
...I wasn't painting in acrylics ~
...or, so I thought.
...Silly me :)

New technique
...for me that is...
I'm sure for millions out there
it's old hat.
Last night's attempt.

Here's the assignment...
paint using only
white, raw & burnt umber
(in acrylics).

The point is to find the value changes;
then ~ when finished,
paint in oils :)

Well ~ as you can see,
I'm really struggling with
God's arm/hands
the babies hand.

Ok ~ so my thought for today,
try the whole assignment
at home & see what happens.

Not wanting to make a mistake at home
and risk making my teacher mad,
I painted a new canvas at home.
This is just the acrylic part.
Hopefully ~ tomorrow, I'll be able
to find some time to paint
using oils.

But ~ as you can see, I'm still
struggling with God's arm/hand
the babies hand :(

We'll see what the oils produce.

Happy Painting :)

My 1st. Oil Painting

I copied this painting from the internet.
I'd like to know who the artist is.
I think the painting is Beautiful!!

It puts two thoughts in my head:

My prayer for Angela since I've known
she was pregnant...
God, Please wrap Angela & her baby
in Your protective womb.

&

Contemplative Prayer...
When I'm praying,
I think of God wrapping me in
His arms.

In both of my prayers, the arms are God's :)
So...here is my 1st. pass.

As I mentioned before, this is my first
oil painting.
I'm very excited to say...
I have an art teacher
(for the next 5 weeks.)

Of course, I'm continuing with my
Tuesday morning art group...
I love them ~ they are so sweet, kind & encouraging :)

My art teacher is extra.
I've had one class;
it was drawing...no oil instruction.

I'd like to understand:
How to move the oil around a bit easier?
Subtle value changes?
How to paint wrinkles?
Just to name a few???

My 1st. Oil Pastel

It's been a while since I've posted
anything in this blog.
I wasn't able to paint with
my group for about 6 weeks.
Christmas, New Years
& the cruise took me away.

In the fall, I tried my hand using
 oil pastels.
I enjoyed it a lot.
However, not knowing what kind of
surface on which to paint, I
used one of those practice
canvases ~ gessoed that is :)

Next time ~ I think I'll use a paper pad.
The type I used when working with graphite.
We'll see :)

Painting Begins Again :)

Recently, I started back painting.
I must say
I feel like I'm in heaven :)

With Christmas coming up,
I wanted to paint a picture
of
Santa :)
He was so much fun to paint.
He is now framed and ready to be hung
as soon as the
Thanksgiving meal is finished :)

I hope that doesn't make me seem that
I'm not Thankful for my
sooo many gifts.
Everyday I give God Thanks.
He is truly Awesome.

Speaking of which...
When we were in the old SVdP store,
there was a picture of
 Christ (Divine Mercy) on the
bulletin board.

Before we moved from the old store,
I took a picture
and vowed...
one day I'd paint Him.

Well that day came :)
Now...I keep painting on him.
I just can't seem to get Him the way
I want Him.
But...in the mean time,
I sure am enjoying the process :)

Thank you God...
I am so Blessed :)
